Since 2009, we have given over $100,000 in the form of grants and for campus improvement. Our grant program has been well received by the faculty of WMHS. The WMHS Foundation awards classroom vouchers to all instructional teachers at the beginning of the school year enabling teachers to buy classroom supplies. The Foundation also awards one $5,000 grant each year to a department or group of teachers. We offer grants for amounts up to $500 for supplies, activities, or programs that improve and enhance the educational process. Over 20 of these grants have been awarded thus far. The Foundation has allocated over $12,000 for campus landscaping improvements and almost $30,000 to purchase equipment and supplies for MagnaTech, our new STEM program. Sustainable funding is needed in order to continue to support our school through this grant program.
Making A Difference
The West Monroe High School Foundation was established with four goals in mind:
The common thread evident with those involved in the Foundation is simply that we care. The Foundation members understand that there is too much at stake for our community, state and nation to allow any WMHS student to leave the school without offering them the very best.
With these goals as our focus, the WMHS Foundation:
1. Works closely with the WMHS administration.
2. Supports the WMHS Teachers and Faculty through grants.
3. Wants our community to have great pride in WMHS by sharing its accomplishments.
4. Wants the community and WMHS's alumni to have the opportunity to support the school financially.
